Consumer Participation @ ReGen

Consumer Participation is about making sure people who use ReGen services have a say in the organisation and complements ReGen’s values of Hope, Empowerment, Respect, Social Justice and Integrity. These values, and indeed Consumer Participation, are closely aligned with human rights. What’s more, Consumer Participation is about democracy and equity.

ReGen Wants to Know What You Think

ReGen always has included the consumer voice. However, when ReGen took a good look at the Consumer Participation practice, we decided that we needed some help with establishing further Consumer Participation at ReGen. This is why we employed a Consumer Participation Facilitator in May, 2013.

The Consumer Participation Facilitator’s role

Regina Brindle, the Consumer Participation Facilitator, is setting up new ways for you to have your say. This is rewarding work as Consumers make a big different when giving back to services. When giving back to services and contributing ideas, not only do Consumers improve services, but make these more relevant to the needs of the Consumers. When staff partner with Consumers, a community of staff and Consumers working together to achieve shared goals is established.

What ReGen has so far

ReGen wants your opinion on what ReGen does. We are working hard to find out what works, what doesn’t work and how we can improve.

So far ReGen has: 

  • a client charter of rights
  • client surveys
  • a feedback form
  • focus groups to get feedback from you
  • phone conversation to find our whether our service was helpful
  • Consumer developed training for staff.

ReGen wants your participation

ReGen wants you to help make the feedback easier and better. We want you be part of decision making. We want to make you a partner. Because we need your input, ReGen are working on ways for you to participate in: 

  • working groups
  • focus groups
  • presenting your ideas and experience at forums
  • co-facilitating training,
  • and to help recruit great staff.

Training

Of course this won’t all happen over night and not all of it may suit you. But if you do want to give back, ReGen wants to hear from you. ReGen is working with Consumer led organisations to set up training for you so you can meaningfully participate. This training will include instruction in Consumer Participation practice, how to participate in meetings, organisational policy and procedure, advocacy, stigma and human rights.

ReGen is seeking Consumer Workers

ReGen are now seeking three Consumer Workers who are interested in participating in working groups. Payment is @$25.00 per hour.
