International Overdose Awareness Day presentation - by Carter (31/08/17)

While there has been much public discussion of the proposed Medically Supervised Injecting Centre in Richmond, there is one group that has been largely ignored: those who are most directly at risk of harm and most likely to use such a service. Our thanks to Carter for allowing us to publish the text of his International Overdose Awareness Day presentation on the role stigma plays in increasing potential harm to people who inject opioids, his experience of using the Sydney MSIC and the need for one in Melbourne to help prevent overdose and support those struggling with opioid dependence.
