Drink and Drug Drive Behaviour Change Programs

The 'Drink and Drug Driver Behaviour Change Program' is a program approved by VicRoads under the Road Safety Act 1986. Uniting is one of a number of providers approved by VicRoads to deliver Drink and Drug Driver Behaviour Change Programs.

Uniting offers:

  • Drink Drive Behaviour Change Program
  • Drug Drive Behaviour Change Program
  • Drink and Drug Drive Intensive Behaviour Change Program

These programs are required to the new laws for alcohol and/or drug related offences that came into effect from 30th April, 2018.

What is the Behaviour Change Program?

One of the requirements is that people caught drink and/or drug driving have to participate in one of three Behaviour Change Programs. The different Behaviour Change Programs have been specifically designed to address issues associated with alcohol and driving or drug driving or an intensive course designed for more serious offences.  The Behaviour Change Programs explore the underlying causes of your offence and assists you to put into place strategies to avoid it happening again. It can also provide the opportunity to explore any issues you might have with alcohol and/or drugs.

What type of Behaviour Change Program will I need to complete?

There are different types of Behaviour Change Programs. Which one you will need to attend will depend on the details of your offence. VicRoads will send you a letter specifying the program you need to do.
